Yeah, been seriously busy, GCSEs coming up and all that but I finally managed to traul through this picture. Half arsed background, half arsed shading.....but funnily enough I like it
These two are going to be my main characters for this account. On the right is Lilian, she's a brand new character, and some of you might recognise the cheeky colt on the left, it's King King is the son of one of my old characters; Stellaluna. And Lilian is Athena's daughter (some of you may have noticed the slightly familiar markings) I decided that Stella found Athena late in her pregnancy with Lilly. She was weak and Stella helped her through it, even though she had a newborn colt of her own to care for. Despite the difficult labour, when the little filly was born she was very strong and began bounding around within minutes. The two mothers and their lively foals began to search for a herd to join, they knew it wasn't safe to be wandering alone. Then the unexpected weather came, all of a rush they were caught up in a terrible storm, the rain pounded like icicles on their bodies. The young foals simply couldn't keep up with their mothers, they saw the disappearing gold and blue shapes ahead of them and tried to call out but it was too late. By the time Athena and Stella had realised the little ones were missing the rain was so heavy that they could barely see eachother let alone search for Lilly and King. The mares cried for their lost young, disparing for what might happen to them. They searched for weeks, months, but to no avail.
Well that was supposed to be a short explanation but it kind of morphed into a lengthy story
So yeah, Lilly and King have to fend for themselves, which they do pretty well for little foals. And yeah, consider this the begining of my new account

Aww they are so unbelievably cute!!!! !!! I love how you draw foals, with the big fluffy manes and tails . Lilly is really really adorable , is she Fiyero's daughter, or by a different stallion?? The little story is so sad yet really sweet, at least they have each other huh . Beautiful work with the frosty grass and the water and sky
-- It's not that she's fearless, it's merely a sheer lack of self-preservation.
The closest thing I can imagine to the thrill of being on a horse that is clearing big fences at speed is zooming down an icy mountain slope on skis
I love how you've placed these two colourful foals against a grey background; it really emphasizes how alone they are, and how cold everything might appear to stranded young. Lilian's design is also quite appealing--teal and red-brown look so beautiful together.
My only critique is that the water should have the reflections of the grass and mountains. The fun thing about still water is that it doesn't distort reflections, so this issue could be easily fixed by copying the mountain/grass sections, and flipping the copy upside-down.
Thank you Harly Yeah I'm really pleased with Lilly, her design is really simple but I like it. I hadn't thought about that, I think her father could be some random stallion, before Theenie met Fiyero. Yeah I can't wait to draw them grown up though I want to know what they'll look like! I'll probably do reference sheets first, they don't require a background
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
